bankleer will show works in which they engage with the “undead” as the embodiment of the suppressed and the residue of unfulfilled utopias. In raus aus der arbeit, rein mit der realität, defiant zombies descend on an “employment center” in Stuttgart. The performance videos Lenin fou and im kommen are part of a body of work that experiments with the symbolic reintroduction of past utopias into the present. As “carte blanche,” bankleer have compiled a furious double feature: Jean Rouch’s anti-colonial document Les maîtres fous and Christoph Schlingensiefs Terror 2000, a splattering response to the German conditions after “reunification.”
